Ars Magna Lucis et Umbrae ("The Great Art of Light and Shadow") is a 1645 treatise by Jesuit polymath Athanasius Kircher.
Structured in ten books, it is Europe's first published account of image illumination and projection, surveying light in nearly every dimension: physical, astronomical, astrological, and metaphysical.
